Job Summary
As a Security Engineering - Engineer, you thrive on collaborating with your team to design and deliver superior security and network experiences for our customers. You apply broad knowledge in the Information, Engineering and Cyber Security Domains to help shape the security controls required within solution designs (both people, process and technical) and support your team to identify, communicate and help treat corresponding security risks.

Make a Difference
The Network Security Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Telstra’s enterprise DNS and network security platforms within the Enterprise Data Network (EDN). The role focuses on ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable network services, supporting critical infrastructure and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
This is how you’ll bring the purpose of your role to life.
Manage and support enterprise DNS/DHCP platforms (including zone management, key management, and migrations)
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex DNS and network security incidents
Implement and support network changes, including migrations and platform upgrades
Maintain and enhance DNS security controls (e.g. DNSSEC, threat mitigation techniques)
Support day-to-day BAU operations including incident response and participation in on-call/recall roster
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network engineering, security, architecture) on service improvements
Contribute to automation and process optimisation initiatives within network operations
Document configurations, processes, and incident learnings
About you
To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in:
Required Experience
Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in network engineering, IT infrastructure, or network security
Hands-on experience in operational support of enterprise network environments
Experience working in incident-driven environments with exposure to troubleshooting and service restoration
Technical Skills
Telstra Systems / Environment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Industry certifications such as CCNA (required) and CCNP (desirable)
Behavioural / Professional Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively within technical teams
Effective communication skills for incident updates and stakeholder engagement
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and learning
