What you’ll be doing
The Aboriginal Cultural Capability Manager plays a vital role in providing tailored guidance and culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal Cultural Capability Facilitators, to enhance workforce capability, inclusion and wellbeing.
This position centres on care, guidance and cultural insight, helping to create the conditions for consistent, high‑quality and culturally safe education across the organisation. The role will maintain respectful relationships with local Aboriginal communities and partners to ensure culturally informed, responsive, and locally relevant service delivery.
The Manager, Aboriginal Cultural Capability provides strategic and operational leadership to strengthen cultural safety, respect, and inclusion across MLHD.
In this role, you will:

Lead the design, delivery and evaluation of Aboriginal cultural capability programs, including Respecting the Difference training

Drive organisation-wide cultural change by embedding Aboriginal perspectives into policies, services and governance

Build and sustain strong partnerships with local Aboriginal communities, leaders and stakeholders

Provide expert cultural advice to executives, managers and teams

Support, coach and develop the Aboriginal Cultural Capability team

Monitor program outcomes, analyse data and produce high-quality reports to inform continuous improvement

Champion culturally safe and inclusive workforce practices across the District
About You
You are a strong and culturally grounded leader with a passion for improving outcomes for Aboriginal communities. You will:

Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (genuine occupational qualification)

Bring strong connection to and knowledge of local Aboriginal communities

Have demonstrated experience leading cultural capability initiatives and training programs

Demonstrate proven ability to influence change and embed culturally safe practices in complex organisations

Have highly developed communication, engagement and stakeholder management skills

Have experience leading and supporting teams, fostering culturally safe and inclusive workplaces

Have strong understanding of historical and contemporary factors impacting Aboriginal health outcomes
