Your new role:
As a Registered Nurse at Palen Creek Correctional Centre, you will provide compassionate, person-centred care while working with the healthcare team to achieve positive health outcomes in a unique correctional health setting. You will be responsible for:
Providing comprehensive nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans.
Applying clinical judgement, critical thinking and evidence-based practice to manage complex healthcare needs.
Supporting a nurse-led clinic environment delivering primary health care, health promotion services, telehealth support and visiting medical officer clinics.
Collaborating with the healthcare team to promote safe practice, quality improvement and best patient outcomes.
Providing clinical leadership, mentoring and support to colleagues while contributing to a positive learning culture.
Participating in quality initiatives, audits, education activities and continuous improvement opportunities.
Supporting the delivery of healthcare services across the correctional centre and work camp environment.
About you:
You are a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering quality healthcare and working in a diverse clinical environment. You will bring:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Experience delivering person-centred care and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining safe and effective clinical practice.
Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with patients, colleagues and stakeholders.
A commitment to ongoing professional development, reflective practice and evidence-based nursing.
An interest in developing skills and experience within correctional health nursing.
Advanced Life Support qualification, or commitment to completion.

Palen Creek Correctional Centre
Palen Creek Correctional Centre is situated approximately 100km southwest of Brisbane in the rural community of Rathdowney and is built on 520 acres of land. It is a low security farm facility with prisoners located either on site or off site at work camp. These work camps are in Dirranbandi, St George, Mitchell and Charleville. The work camp programs provide high levels of community reparation, prisoner rehabilitation and reintegration. The facilities at Palen Creek include a Health Clinic, which offers a nurse-led general clinic, primary health promotion services, access to telehealth services when required and provides support to the Opioid Substitution Therapy Program, in addition to visiting medical officer clinics. Palen Creek Correctional Centre has the current capacity for up to 290 prisoners onsite and up to 40 prisoners away at offsite work camp.
