## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Telecommunications Network Planner to join our team and play a key role in the planning, design, and ongoing development of customer access telecommunications network infrastructure. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders. ## Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and maintain customer access telecommunications network infrastructure to support organisational growth and service delivery objectives
- Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and service providers to manage contractual obligations, monitor performance delivery, and ensure agreed service levels are met
- Design and optimise telecommunications networks, ensuring solutions are cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with business and technical requirements
- Provide ongoing operational support by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving network performance malfunctions, defects, and faults in a timely manner
- Conduct detailed network capacity planning and demand forecasting to anticipate future infrastructure requirements and prevent service degradation
- Analyse network data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement targeted optimisation strategies
- Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, including network plans, design specifications, and project reports
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and project management to deliver network projects on time and within budget
- Assess and evaluate new technologies, tools, and methodologies to support continuous improvement across the network planning function
- Ensure all planning activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance frameworks
- Support field teams and technical staff by providing clear guidance and planning documentation during network rollout and upgrade activities
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in telecommunications network planning, design, or a closely related technical role
- Strong working knowledge of customer access network technologies, including fibre, copper, HFC, and wireless infrastructure
- Proficiency in network planning and design tools, GIS platforms, and relevant industry software
- Solid understanding of network protocols, architecture principles, and performance management practices
- Proven ability to analyse complex technical data, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions
- Experience managing and coordinating external vendors and suppliers, including oversight of contractual performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within defined timeframes
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
## Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualifications or industry certifications in telecommunications, network engineering, or project management (e.g. CCNP, PMP, or equivalent)
- Experience working within NBN, fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP), or large-scale national telecommunications rollout programmes
- Familiarity with Australian telecommunications regulatory frameworks and industry standards
- Experience with predictive network modelling and simulation tools
- Exposure to agile or structured project delivery methodologies within a telecommunications context
