About the Role
We are seeking a Dispensary Technician to join our oncology team at Slade Pharmacy Epworth Freemasons (Albert Street campus), East Melbourne. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your pharmacy skills within a specialised oncology setting, working in a well-regarded private hospital environment known for high-quality patient care.
As the Dispensary Technician (Oncology), you will play an important role in supporting the safe and efficient delivery of oncology pharmacy services across the hospital. Working alongside experienced oncology pharmacists and a multidisciplinary clinical team, you will help ensure that patients receive timely access to essential medications, including complex oncology therapies.
This role offers exposure to hospital pharmacy operations and oncology workflows, making it ideal for a technician looking to build capability in a more clinical and specialised setting. You will be involved in the end-to-end dispensary process, from medication supply and inventory management through to patient support and coordination with clinical teams. With structured training and ongoing support, you will have the opportunity to further develop your technical knowledge, attention to detail and confidence working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing high-quality pharmacy services to hospital staff and patients
- Dispensing and supplying medications for hospital and oncology patients in accordance with safety and legislative standards and Slade policies.
- Entering patient specific data into pharmacy systems with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Prescription management and providing administrative support to pharmacists to ensure continuity of supply and a smooth patient experience.
- Assisting with imprest management, stock control and inventory processes to ensure continuity of supply for patients
- Delivering and collecting medications across wards, and clinical areas in a timely manner
- Liaising with hospital staff and multidisciplinary teams to support coordinated patient care
- Supporting general dispensary operations and contributing to workflow efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
You are a motivated and detail-oriented pharmacy technician looking to expand your skills in a hospital or oncology setting. While prior oncology experience is highly regarded, full training will be provided to support your development in this specialised area.
Essential requirements:
- Minimum 1-year dispensing experience in an Australian pharmacy
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Australian working rights valid for at least 12 months
Desirable:
- Certificate III in Hospital Pharmacy and Support Services or equivalent qualification
- Experience in hospital and or oncology pharmacy
