We’re looking for Senior Network Operator to work in our busy control rooms at WestConnex (M8 St Peter Motorway Control Centre) and redirect traffic flow, coordinate response teams, and relay critical info to keep our roads safe, all while remaining naturally composed and alert at all times.
You’ll join an innovative team, who tirelessly monitor the flow of the traffic with an eagle eye and respond with lightning speed in the event of incidents, both big and small.
As a Senior Network Operator, you will play a lead role in ensuring our Control Room staff have the training, resources and procedures to do what they need in order to keep our road users safe.
Day-to-day, you will:
Think bigger and find new ways to improve our processes, traffic management, and make recommendations
Lead, mentor and support the Network (Traffic Control Room) Operators, ensuring the team have the right skills and motivation to undertake their duties
Oversee the day-to-day responsibilities for traffic operations and incident management, being the point of escalation with internal and external stakeholders
Ensure that there is effective and safe coordination between the various work parties that access the motorway and the safe and functional operation of the motorway itself
Work collaboratively with field staff, Emergency Service and your team, you will act swiftly to respond to incidents to contain the event and keep everyone safe
Provide real time information on road and tunnel conditions to senior management, either by phone, sms notifications or via traffic management systems
You provide appropriate training to other officers on an ongoing basis.

Experience working in a monitoring control room or operational environment
You excel at solving problems and enjoy the various challenges that come with a fast-paced and evolving organisation
As a strong communicator, you enjoy dealing with various stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
Understanding and passionate about road network, traffic and incident management in general
Organised, driven, resilient and efficient, showing confidence and professionalism no matter how challenging the situation is
You’re experienced in writing reports and you know which important details to include so the operation runs smoothly
