About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Automation & Control Systems Project Engineer to support a major manufacturing and industrial transformation program in Australia.
The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in PLC, SCADA, HMI, industrial automation, control systems integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead automation and control system integration across manufacturing facilities.
- Design, configure, modify, test, and commission PLC-based control systems.
- Support SCADA and HMI development, integration, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Deliver automation upgrades and brownfield modernization projects.
- Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, instrumentation, controls, and communication issues.
- Integrate production equipment and OEM systems into existing plant infrastructure.
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, validation, and production handover.
- Identify automation opportunities to improve plant capacity, reliability, efficiency, and performance.
- Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, process, IT/OT, maintenance, production, OEM, and vendor teams.
- Develop and maintain control philosophies, functional specifications, I/O documentation, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Support migration and separation of manufacturing systems from legacy environments.
Required Skills & Experience
- 12–15 years of relevant industrial automation experience.
- Strong experience with PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS and industrial control systems.
- Strong PLC programming, diagnostics, and troubleshooting capability.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols and networks.
- Experience delivering brownfield automation upgrades and plant modernization projects.
- Experience with commissioning, FAT, SAT, and production cutover.
- Manufacturing experience within Food & Beverage, FMCG, Dairy, Pharmaceutical, Process Manufacturing, or similar industries is highly desirable.
- Strong stakeholder and vendor-management skills.
