About the role:
As a Senior Media Advisor, you will lead the development and delivery of media strategies, responses and proactive story opportunities that enhance SafeWork NSW's reputation and support organisational objectives.
Working closely with senior leaders, Ministers' offices and key stakeholders, you will identify opportunities to promote SafeWork's work, manage emerging issues and provide expert media advice in a dynamic and politically sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage media issues affecting SafeWork NSW, identifying emerging risks and opportunities and developing effective media strategies.
- Prepare high-quality media releases, media responses, briefing materials, Q&As, holding statements and other communications products.
- Develop compelling story opportunities that showcase SafeWork NSW's initiatives, regulatory activities and achievements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, Ministers' offices, business partners and internal stakeholders.
- Lead the planning and delivery of media events and support government announcements, campaigns and major reforms.
- Collaborate across the organisation to identify and execute proactive media and social media opportunities.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on media issues, reputation management and contemporary communication approaches.
- Contribute to a 24/7 media-on-call service and support timely responses to emerging issues.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Significant experience in media relations, journalism, public affairs or strategic communications.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate, persuasive and audience-focused content under tight deadlines.
- Experience managing complex and sensitive media issues in a government, regulatory or corporate environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build productive relationships at all levels.
- Sound judgement, political awareness and the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of contemporary media, digital and social media landscapes and emerging communication trends.
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with a focus on delivering quality outcomes that support organisational priorities.
