Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is seeking a passionate and proactive Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Project Officer to lead the delivery of smoking prevention and cessation initiatives across our service region.
The PAMS component of the project has a focus on the Western Desert working with members of the Newman, Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji communities, implementing, monitoring and evaluating strategies to reduce the level of smoking, and providing health information related to the risks associated with smoking including passive smoking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver the Tackling Indigenous Smoking Program across the PAMS region.
- Plan and facilitate community engagement, health promotion campaigns, and awareness events.
- Develop partnerships with community groups, stakeholders, and service providers.
- Monitor program performance, collect data, and prepare reports in line with funding requirements.
- Support the design and implementation of evidence-based smoking prevention and cessation strategies.
- Work collaboratively with clinical teams and external partners to improve health outcomes.
About You:
- Experience in project coordination, community development, health promotion, or a related field.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting requirements.
- Understanding of Aboriginal health issues and a commitment to culturally safe service delivery.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel within remote communities.
