We are establishing a new Australian law firm in Western Australia, backed by the leadership and success of a highly established and profitable personal injury law firm based in the Northwest of England, UK.
The UK firm has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional legal services and operating a highly successful practice within the personal injury sector. As part of its international expansion, the firm is now launching an Australian practice designed to operate with the same high standards of compliance, governance, and client service.
This position offers a unique opportunity for a senior Western Australia-qualified solicitor to take on a Director / Salaried Partner (Non-Equity) role within a new and growing law firm. You will play a key role in establishing the firm’s regulatory framework and ensuring compliance with Western Australian legal practice requirements.
The role offers significant autonomy, flexibility, and strategic influence, while being supported by an experienced leadership team in the UK.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced WA-admitted solicitor to act as a Director / Salaried Partner (Non-Equity) of the new Australian practice.
This role will involve working 5 days per week, primarily remotely, with occasional attendance required within Western Australia if necessary. Fully flexible working hours/days.
Responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a legal practitioner director / responsible solicitor for the Western Australian practice (subject to regulatory approval)
- Ensuring the firm complies with all regulatory obligations under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (WA) and the Legal Practice Board of Western Australia
- Overseeing legal compliance, governance, and professional conduct obligations
- Supporting the establishment and maintenance of the firm’s compliance systems, policies, and risk management procedures
- Ensuring compliance with trust accounting rules, CPD obligations, and professional standards
- Providing senior legal oversight and strategic guidance as the firm develops
- Working collaboratively with the UK-based leadership team
- Assisting in establishing best-practice governance and operational structures for the Australian practice
- (Desirable) Advising on or assisting with personal injury matters, including workers’ compensation, motor vehicle accidents, and public liability claims
This role will not involve day-to-day staff management, as the firm will initially operate as a lean startup structure.
Regulatory Requirements
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the regulatory requirements to act as a Director / Legal Practitioner Director of an Australian Incorporated Legal Practice, including:
- Admission as a solicitor in Western Australia
- Holding a current and unrestricted WA practising certificate
- Eligibility to act as a Legal Practitioner Director under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (WA)
- Ability to satisfy Legal Practice Board of Western Australia requirements for directors of incorporated legal practices
- Demonstrated understanding of professional conduct rules, trust account obligations, and regulatory compliance
About You
The successful candidate will bring:
- Significant senior-level experience in legal practice within Western Australia
- Strong knowledge of WA legal regulatory frameworks and compliance obligations
- Experience overseeing or contributing to law firm governance, compliance, or regulatory matters
- The ability to work independently and provide strategic legal oversight
- Excellent legal drafting, advisory, and professional judgement
- The ability to collaborate with international colleagues across time zones
Desirable Experience
- Experience in personal injury law
- Previous experience as a partner, director, principal, or senior practitioner
- Experience in establishing or supporting a new legal practice
- Interest in supporting the growth of an international legal practice
