OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR & PRODUCTION LEAD
Laundry Project – South Melbourne VIC
Rate: $38.00-$40.00 per hour (Contractor)
Initial Commitment: Approximately 3 days per week
Progression: Opportunity to transition into a larger leadership role as the business grows
ABOUT LAUNDRY PROJECT
Laundry Project is a premium commercial laundry and garment care company servicing hospitality venues, wellness brands, fashion labels, retail stores, gyms, and premium clients across Melbourne.
We focus on operational excellence, premium presentation, reliability, and customer service. As the business continues to grow, we are seeking a hands-on Operations Supervisor & Production Lead to support the day-to-day running of the depot and help lead our production team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading by example and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to work alongside the team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a hands-on leadership position.
Approximately:
- 70% Production & Operations
- 30% Team Leadership & Supervision
The successful applicant will work directly alongside our production team while helping maintain workflow, quality standards, team performance, and daily operational efficiency.
This is not a desk-based management role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production & Operations
- Fold, process and prepare customer orders
- Quality check garments, linen and completed orders
- Assist with wash, dry, packing and dispatch operations
- Ensure orders are completed accurately and on time
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient workspace
- Assist with production planning and workflow management
- Support drivers and logistics operations when required
- Happy to jump in and help with deliveries if required
Leadership & Team Supervision
- Lead by example and work alongside the team
- Assist with onboarding and training new staff
- Monitor staff productivity and quality standards
- Ensure SOPs and operational procedures are followed
- Assist with rostering and daily task allocation
- Identify operational improvements and efficiencies
- Escalate issues to management when required
Quality Control
- Ensure customer orders meet Laundry Project standards
- Monitor garment handling procedures
- Verify bag counts and labelling accuracy
- Minimise errors, reworks and missed items
- Maintain premium presentation standards across all orders
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Essential:
- Full Australian working rights
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident preferred
- Current Driver's Licence
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working in a physically active environment
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on
- Ability to work independently and take ownership
Preferred:
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience
- Experience in hospitality, commercial laundry, housekeeping, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing or production environments
- Experience training or managing staff
- Experience working in fast-paced operational environments
