Help build a stronger community through housing
At Jewish Care, we believe that safe, secure and affordable housing is fundamental to dignity, wellbeing and community connection. Every day, we work alongside individuals and families who are experiencing housing vulnerability, helping them access the stability and support they need to thrive.
We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Manager, Housing Strategy & Support to manage and strengthen our current housing program while leading the future direction of our housing services. This role will oversee the effective operation of Jewish Care’s existing housing portfolio, ensure responsive support for tenants and residents, and help create meaningful, long-term housing solutions for members of the Jewish community.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference by combining strategic thinking with community impact, ensuring that people have access to housing that enables them to remain connected, independent and engaged.
About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Disability & Social Services, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and ongoing improvement of Jewish Care’s current housing program consisting of 80 properties, while also contributing to the development and delivery of Jewish Care’s broader housing strategy.
Working closely with community members, government, housing providers, philanthropy and sector partners, you will identify opportunities to expand social, affordable and disability housing options and strengthen Jewish Care's role as a leader in community housing
This role is about more than managing housing assets. It is about understanding the needs of our community, building partnerships, advocating for change and creating innovative pathways that improve people's lives.
You will ensure the housing program is well governed, responsive and sustainable, with clear oversight of tenancy-related matters, service coordination, property and maintenance issues, compliance requirements, risk management, reporting and continuous improvement. Working alongside internal teams and external partners, you will help ensure residents and tenants receive practical, respectful and timely support that promotes stability, dignity and connection.
What You'll Do
Manage the current housing program, including oversight of community, social and disability housing operations, tenancy matters, resident support pathways and property-related issues.
Provide practical leadership to ensure the housing program is safe, compliant, financially sustainable and aligned with Jewish Care’s values and service standards.
Monitor program performance, risks, demand, occupancy, maintenance priorities and service outcomes, using data and reporting to inform decisions and improvements.
Work closely with internal teams to coordinate support for tenants and residents, particularly where housing stability intersects with disability, aged care, family support, financial hardship or social isolation.
Maintain effective relationships with property managers, housing providers, support services, government agencies and community partners to resolve issues and improve housing outcomes.
Lead the development of initiatives that increase access to safe, affordable and appropriate housing.
Build strong partnerships across the Jewish community, government and housing sectors.
Identify future opportunities to grow Jewish Care’s housing portfolio and community impact.
Champion the housing needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged community members.
Drive advocacy efforts that strengthen housing outcomes for the community.
Lead a dedicated team committed to delivering quality housing services, responsive support and consistent program administration.
Work collaboratively across Jewish Care to ensure housing remains a key pillar of community wellbeing.
