The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Projects Manager, to provide a critical role within Post Sentence Branch.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria operates Victoria's adult corrections system, including 13 public prisons, one transition centre, and oversees three privately operated prisons. It ensures prisoners are safely and securely contained and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
The Reintergration and Engagement Services Division of Corrections Victoria is responsible for providing best practice interventions which aim to reduce the risk of reoffending. It has responsibility for the Post Sentence Branch (PSB that provides central oversight and governance of the post-sentence scheme and people subject to post sentence orders including the management of one post sentence residential facility and one post sentence residential treatment facility.
The Commonwealth Community Safety Order (CSO) scheme establishes a regime in respect of non-citizens that have been deemed to pose an unacceptable risk of harming the community by committing a further serious violent or sex offence, and there is no real prospect of their removal from Australia becoming practicable in the reasonably foreseeable future.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Projects, PSB this position will provide high quality authoritative advice to, and on behalf of the PSB and lead and operationalise the strategic intent of the CSO scheme.
It will be the central coordination point for the CSO scheme in Victoria and will provide subject matter expert advice to support any necessary legislative amendments.
The role includes preparing high level briefing papers, complex correspondence, negotiation and liaison with a wide range of executives, senior managers, stakeholders and external government and service providers.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Knowledge of Corrections Victoria policies, organisation, procedures and relevant legislation and regulations.
- An understanding of the CSO scheme and recent establishment of the Commonwealth CSO scheme that impacts Corrections Victoria and Victoria more broadly.
- An awareness of the complexities in managing serious sex and/or violent offenders.
