About the role
Employees at this level provide nursing and midwifery services within Child and Family Health Service, developing from novice to proficient practitioners. They consolidate knowledge and skills through continuous professional development, accepting accountability for their nursing and midwifery care standards and delegated activities.
Key duties of the role
Assess individual client needs and coordinate appropriate service delivery from various options including other disciplines or agencies
Participate in quality improvement activities that enhance client safety, minimise risk and promote safe work practices
Deliver health promotion and education to clients and groups to improve individual health outcomes
Apply theoretical knowledge and evidence-based guidelines to achieve positive client care outcomes
Mentor and guide newer or less experienced staff, including Enrolled Nurses, with increasing capacity over time
Skills and Experience
Registration as a Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with practicing certificate
Demonstrated experience in nursing or midwifery practice delivering high quality, safe patient care
Strong communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills for multidisciplinary teamwork
Understanding of person and family centred care principles and consumer engagement procedures
