Alba Italian Restaurant is seeking an experienced full-time Waiter to join our front-of-house team in Newtown.
Alba is an independently operated Italian restaurant specialising in the food and hospitality of Southern Italy. We are looking for a professional hospitality employee who can provide knowledgeable, attentive and welcoming table service.
About the role
The Waiter will provide full table service, assist guests with menu and beverage selections and work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house team to deliver a consistent dining experience.
The position requires availability across a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Main responsibilities
- Welcome guests and provide professional table service.
- Explain menu items, ingredients, monthly specials and dietary options.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders.
- Enter orders correctly into the point-of-sale system.
- Serve food, wine and other beverages in accordance with restaurant standards.
- Provide appropriate food and wine recommendations.
- Monitor tables throughout the dining experience.
- Communicate guest requests and dietary requirements clearly to the kitchen.
- Process bills and customer payments accurately.
- Set up and reset the dining room before, during and after service.
- Maintain clean and organised dining and service areas.
- Assist with stock handling and basic beverage preparation.
- Respond professionally to guest questions, requests and complaints.
- Comply with responsible service of alcohol, food safety, and workplace health and safety requirements.
Skills and experience
Applicants should have:
- At least 2 years of relevant restaurant service experience.
- Experience providing full table service in a busy restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of food, wine and beverage service.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- The ability to carry multiple plates and manage several tables efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and order accuracy.
- The ability to work calmly and professionally during busy services.
- A current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Knowledge of Italian food, Italian wine or Italian-style service will be highly regarded.
Employment conditions
- Permanent, full-time employment.
- Salary between $79,500 and $85,000 based on experience
- Approximately 38 hours per week, with reasonable additional hours where required.
- Evening, weekend and public-holiday work will be required.
