About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join our dynamic team. This role involves preparing detailed engineering drawings, plans, and documentation for a range of civil infrastructure and building projects including structural remediation, façade works, waterproofing, and site development.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality designs that meet Australian standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting & Design
- Prepare detailed civil and structural drawings, plans, and sections using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or 12D).
- Assist engineers with design calculations, checking levels, slopes, grading, and drainage alignments.
- Produce and update drawings ensuring accuracy, constructability, and alignment with engineering specifications and project standards.
- Maintain CAD libraries, templates, and digital standards.
Documentation & Coordination
- Coordinate design information between engineers, subcontractors, and consultants to support smooth project progression and reduce design discrepancies.
- Assist in preparing design documentation for procurement and construction, including drawings, schedules, and technical details for subcontract packages.
- Review subcontractor drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and integration into overall design sets.
- Prepare engineering support documents such as scopes of work, drawing packages, schedules, and technical summaries for internal review and subcontractor coordination.
Project Support
- Coordinate RFQs by gathering design-related inputs, assessing scope requirements, and supporting cost estimation activities across multiple trades.
- Compile tender comparison documents with an emphasis on technical accuracy and design alignment.
- Liaise with subcontractors, providing updates on project progression and addressing queries.
- Support cost forecasting and procurement by ensuring technical documentation and design requirements are integrated accurately into project planning.
- Assist in negotiating variations by validating technical changes, reviewing drawings, and ensuring proposed adjustments align with engineering intent and site conditions.
- Maintain accurate records and revisions using document control systems (e.g., Jobpac) to support efficient workflows and timely project delivery.
Site Support
- Conduct site visits to confirm measurements, check existing conditions, and update drawings accordingly.
Travel to various construction sites as required for inspections and project coordination.

Essential Requirements
- Minimum Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Design or a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent).
- At least 3 years of recent, relevant work experience as a civil design draftsperson, with demonstrated experience in:
- Structural remediation and waterproofing works.
- Façade remedial works.
- Site development, drainage, and earthworks.
- Proven proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or 12D).
- Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering reports, survey data, and site constraints.
- Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare comprehensive expert reports and technical documents.
- Proficiency in document control systems (e.g., Jobpac) is highly regarded.
Desirable Attributes
- Ability to speak a second language – not essential but highly regarded.
- Experience with 3D modelling and BIM software.
- Familiarity with local council and state government approval processes.
- Contract administration experience.
Working Conditions
- Flexibility to work on Saturdays if required or in the event of urgent project dispatch.
- Willingness to travel to various construction sites across NSW as needed for site inspections, measurements, and project coordination.
- A valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle are essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
