The Role
CAE is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Simulator Technician II to join our team in Perth, Western Australia.
This role is ideal for an experienced technician looking to further develop their career in simulation technology. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting CAE's Full Flight Simulators and training devices while ensuring the highest levels of operational readiness for pilot training activities.
Working as part of a collaborative Technical Services team, you will play a key role in supporting customers, maintaining simulator performance, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Maintenance Support

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on flight simulators and associated equipment.

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and system-related issues.

Conduct visual alignments and calibration activities.

Run and evaluate Qualification Test Guide (QTG) procedures and other diagnostic tests.

Support simulator modifications, upgrades, refurbishment activities, and engineering change implementations.

Interpret technical documentation, schematics, and system drawings to support maintenance activities.
Operational Support

Conduct pre-flight and post-flight simulator checks.

Monitor simulator performance and identify potential technical issues before they impact training operations.

Assist in ensuring maximum simulator availability and reliability.

Support technical recovery activities during training disruptions.
Training & Compliance

Complete all required technical certifications and recurrent training.

Ensure compliance with CAE's Quality Management System, safety requirements, and operational procedures.

Maintain accurate maintenance and technical records using the maintenance management system.

Participate in audits, inspections, and compliance activities as required.
Customer & Team Support

Provide responsive support to instructors, customers, and training operations personnel.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Technical Services team.

Support logistics activities including parts management, repair coordination, testing, and validation of components.
Qualifications & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:

A technical trade qualification, diploma, associate degree, or equivalent training in electronics, avionics, electrical, mechanical, IT, or a related field.

Typically, 2–5 years of relevant technical experience in simulator maintenance, aviation, defence, industrial automation, electronics, or a similar technical environment.

Experience troubleshooting electrical, electronic, mechanical, or computer-based systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.

Proficiency in the use of diagnostic and test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and related tools.

Working knowledge of computer hardware, networking, and software systems.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Fluency in English.

Ability to work 4 days on and off (Day, day, night night) rotating roster from 6:30am to 6:30pm and 6:30pm to 6:30am.
