The Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the store during their rostered shift. They lead by example, ensuring exceptional customer service, high-quality food and beverage preparation, excellent presentation standards, and efficient team performance. The Shift Leader supports the Store Manager by maintaining operational standards, training staff, and ensuring every customer enjoys a positive experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership
- Lead and motivate the team throughout each shift.
- Delegate duties and ensure all team members complete their assigned tasks.
- Provide coaching, support, and on-the-job training to new and existing staff.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and productive work environment.
- Address minor staff issues and report significant concerns to the Store Manager.
Customer Service
- Deliver outstanding customer service at all times.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure orders are prepared accurately and presented to company standards.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for every customer.
Store Operations
- Open and close the store following company procedures.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle cash accurately.
- Complete end-of-day cash reconciliation and banking procedures where required.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate ordering requirements to management.
- Minimise product wastage through effective stock rotation and portion control.
- Ensure all equipment is operating safely and report maintenance issues.
Food Safety & Cleanliness
- Maintain exceptional food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ensure compliance with all food handling, workplace health and safety, and company policies.
- Monitor cleaning schedules and ensure the store remains clean, organised, and presentation-ready throughout the shift.
Team Performance
- Ensure adequate staffing levels during busy periods.
- Manage staff breaks in accordance with company policy and workplace legislation.
- Encourage teamwork and maintain high staff morale.
- Lead by example through professionalism, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or food service.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Pay: $24.00 – $38.00 per hour
