About the Role
Community Mental Health Services provide a range of services designed to help support the recovery and help consumer stay well in the community. The team provide specialist services for young people, children and families, adults, and older people. Community mental health services include a specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Team, bilingual mental health workers and Peer Support Workers. Our main sites are at Canterbury, Croydon, Camperdown, Marrickville, and Redfern Community Health Services. The role will be based at Canterbury Community Health.
The Community Mental Health Team provides a comprehensive range of services designed to support recovery and promote sustainable community living for people experiencing mental illness. The Community Mental Health Team (CORE Team) is the mainstay of the Community Mental Health System. The multidisciplinary team includes Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Psychologists, Psychiatrists and Peer Support Workers. Together, we provide a range of clinical services, including intake, comprehensive assessment, care coordination, consultation, and tailored treatment for priority adult populations with mental illness.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals within a defined specialty through the delivery of specialist consultant service which:
- Develops implements and evaluates care management plans for patients with complex health needs.
- Provides leadership in the ongoing development of clinical practice.
- Initiates and utilises findings of research in the provision of clinical services.
- Contributes to the development and delivery of specialty related education programs.
- Participates in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the clinical service.

Ideal Candidate
- Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience.
- Holds approved postgraduate qualifications relevant to Mental Health or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a multidisciplinary team environment.
