At Development and Future Networks, we are leading the way in creating the energy network of tomorrow, enabling the transition to a Net Zero Future. The Asset Management DFN team is at the forefront of managing the integration of renewable energy sources into our transmission network.
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Transmission Lines to provide specialist engineering expertise across our growing portfolio of overhead transmission lines and underground cable assets ranging from 500kV to 22kV.
As new assets continue to be delivered into the DFN portfolio, you'll play a key role in ensuring they are managed effectively throughout their operational life, helping maximise performance, reliability, safety and value for our customers and stakeholders.
You will provide technical leadership across asset management, lifecycle planning, operational support, engineering assessments, standards development, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
Act as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Transmission Line assets up to 500kV, providing engineering advice and making sound technical decisions across the full asset lifecycle.
Develop and implement asset strategies, Asset Management Plans, and Owner's Requirements to support the long-term performance, reliability and safety of transmission assets.
Monitor, analyse and report on asset condition, performance and maintenance data, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
Lead investigations into asset failures and emerging issues, developing repair, recommissioning and risk mitigation strategies, and providing technical recommendations.
Support the development and delivery of asset replacement, augmentation and contestable projects through concept design, scope development, business cases, procurement and tender activities.
Provide technical leadership for Safety in Design, value engineering, constructability reviews, risk assessments and electrical safety case development across project development and delivery phases.
Develop, maintain and continuously improve engineering standards, maintenance practices and technical governance frameworks to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, contractual and industry requirements.
Build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and operational excellence while supporting emergency response activities, audits, HSEQ risk management and knowledge sharing across the business.
You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent recognized by The Washington Accord
Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Asset Management could be desirable.
CPEng from Engineers Australia or equivalent and RPEV or eligible obtain from BLA-Victoria
Construction White Card or Equivalent.
Australia/Victorian Driver’s License.
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in electricity industry.
Experience in asset owning organisations across network asset management, asset engineering, operations and incident management is highly regarded.
Demonstrated commitment to safety outcomes.
In-depth knowledge of Transmission Lines – design, construction operation and maintenance.
Knowledge & experience of transmission line muddling/design with PLS-CADD/TOWR/POLE or similar software
Knowledge & experience of Lighting, Earthing, Audible Noise & EMF studies are highly regarded.
Understanding of Asset Management leading practices, frameworks and relevant standards.
Understanding of relevant Australian and International standards and industry codes of practice.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimise asset performance.
Ability of effective use of AI and capability of data analysis and management is highly regarded.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
An advanced level of reasoning skills and engineering judgement.
Experience in the use of SAP or similar ERP systems well regarded.
