About this Position:
The Field Supervisor Collections is responsible for leading and coordinating Council’s waste collection operations, including supervising collection crews and managing fleet and service delivery activities. The role ensures services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, while maintaining high standards of customer service and team performance.

What we trust you to deliver:
- Leadership: Lead the waste collection team, including Heavy Vehicle Collection Drivers, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery. Provide clear field-based supervision, direction, mentoring, and support to maintain high standards across all collection operations. Actively engage in operational tasks when required, demonstrating best practices in vehicle operation and safety.
- Driving and Labouring duties: Drive waste collection vehicles and undertake general labouring duties on a regular basis and as required.
- Resource Utilisation: Strategically manage and allocate fleet vehicles, personnel, and equipment to optimise collection efficiency and service continuity. Ensure resources are used effectively to meet operational needs and minimise downtime.
- Customer Driven Service Delivery: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and customers (internal and external) to improve waste collection service delivery. Take responsibility for managing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) requests related to waste collection, including assigning tasks to Heavy Vehicle Collection Drivers and ensuring timely resolution. Provide follow-up communication to customers upon completion to ensure service satisfaction and accurate record-keeping.
- Work Health and Safety: Lead WHS systems and compliance across the waste collection program. Conduct audits, manage incident reporting, and mentor staff in safe work practices aligned with Council policy and legislative requirements. Conduct daily pre-start toolbox meetings.
- Environmental Compliance: Oversee environmental compliance in waste collection operations, including spill response, illegal dumping management, and minimising environmental impact during collection activities. Ensure adherence to EPA requirements and promote continuous improvement.
What you will need to be successful:
- Cert IV Frontline Management or relevant qualification in similar field and/or relevant experience
- Current Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Participate in immunisation program for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B viruses (have or willing to obtain)
- Current First Aid Certificate (have or willing to obtain)
Full position description:
Full Time: 76 hours per fortnight
Salary: From $1,627.10 (Grade 13 Entry) per week + superannuation

Conditions of Employment: Conditions of employment are in the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures and agreements.

Immunisation Program: Council has an immunisation program to provide employees with vaccinations against known health risks associated with their respective duties and to identify any exposure to products that may affect an employee's health, fitness and wellbeing. This position has been identified as a risk to the employee and as such the successful applicant/s will be required to participate in the immunisation program and it is the applicant's responsibility to have undertaken relevant immunisation/s prior to commencement with Council.
