Job Description
Ramsay Health Care is seeking an experienced Long Service Leave Specialist to take national ownership of one of the most complex payroll entitlements across our organisation.
This is a unique opportunity to combine deep technical expertise in long service leave with transformation, systems, governance and remediation capability. You will design and implement a single national operating model that is accurate, consistent, configured, auditable and fit for the future.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager – Payroll Governance, you will sit within the Payroll Governance function and have national design authority for long service leave.
You will be the technical authority and final escalation point for long service leave, providing clarity across legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, employment contracts and the National Employment Standards.
A key focus will be moving long service leave away from manual, case-by-case interpretation towards a standardised and system-enabled operating model, supported by strong controls, clear processes and robust evidence.
You will lead the end-to-end transformation, including:
-
Designing and implementing a single national long service leave operating model
-
Reviewing the current state, identifying root causes and defining the target state
-
Establishing clear processes, decision rights, escalation pathways and controls across Payroll, Governance and Systems
-
Translating legislative and industrial requirements into system configuration and business requirements
-
Working across Chris21, UKG and Workday to improve configuration, testing and automation
-
Supporting Finance with provisioning, forecasting and actuarial valuation requirements
-
Partnering with Employee Relations, Legal, Finance, Technology, Audit and Compliance on complex and sensitive matters
-
Building capability across Payroll through training, procedures, coaching and knowledge transfer
You will also lead complex reviews and escalated cases, including terminations, redundancies, deceased estates, disputed service histories and matters with potential regulatory or legal exposure.
Qualifications
About you
You will be a highly experienced payroll professional with deep technical knowledge of long service leave and a proven ability to translate complex legislative and industrial requirements into practical, sustainable operating models.
You will bring:
-
Extensive experience in payroll, with strong specialist knowledge of long service leave legislation and entitlement calculation
-
Demonstrated experience interpreting legislation, awards, Enterprise Agreements, contracts and the NES
-
Deep expertise interpreting and applying long service leave legislation across multiple Australian jurisdictions.
-
Experience analysing and reconstructing employee service histories, transferred service and legacy entitlement records.
-
Experience supporting audit, regulatory review or compliance remediation activities within payroll or employee entitlements.
-
Proven experience leading payroll transformation, remediation or complex technical projects
-
Experience translating business and legislative requirements into payroll system configuration
-
Strong understanding of payroll systems, testing, data validation, controls and automation
-
Demonstrated experience investigating and remediating historical payroll or entitlement issues
-
Strong analytical capability, with the ability to work with complex data and identify root causes
-
Experience working with Finance on provisioning, reconciliation, forecasting and audit requirements
You will be comfortable operating in an environment where there are complex historical issues to resolve while simultaneously designing a better future-state model.
Why join Ramsay?
This is an opportunity to have genuine national influence over how long service leave is understood, calculated, governed and delivered across a major Australian organisation.
You will have the autonomy to establish the operating model, shape system configuration and controls, lead remediation and build sustainable technical capability within the payroll function.
Working across Payroll Governance, Payroll Operations, People, Industrial Relations, Technology, Finance and Legal, you will play a critical role in strengthening payroll accuracy, compliance and employee experience.
