We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to provide technical leadership, drive continuous improvement initiatives and support the delivery of capital and operational projects within our Queensland Chlor Alkali operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven engineering professional who enjoys balancing technical excellence with stakeholder engagement, project involvement and business improvement.
A current focus of this role will be supporting the establishment of a new chlorine drumming facility at our Lytton Chlor Alkali site. This significant capital project will expand the site's operational capabilities and support its transition to Major Hazard Facility (MHF) status, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to an expansion within our existing Chlor Alkali facilities in Queensland.
About the Role
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be a key member of the Queensland Management Team, responsible for ensuring safe, reliable and sustainable plant operations while providing process engineering expertise and supporting the successful delivery of capital projects from concept through to commissioning.
You will provide specialist process engineering expertise, champion process safety, and facilitate the delivery of engineering projects that support operational performance, growth, and long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide process engineering support and technical leadership across manufacturing operations.
Lead process safety initiatives and Management of Change (MOC) activities.
Provide guidance on engineering standards, compliance requirements, and industry best practice.
Coach and mentor engineers and operational personnel to support capability development.
Drive troubleshooting and resolution of complex process issues.
Lead capital and operational improvement projects from feasibility through to execution and commissioning.
Develop business cases, project scopes, budgets, schedules, and capital approval documentation.
Manage multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
Monitor project performance, ensuring delivery against safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
Identify and manage project risks while maintaining stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
You are a technically strong Chemical Engineer with proven experience leading both plant improvement initiatives and capital projects in a complex industrial environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree qualification in Chemical Engineering.
Minimum 10 years' engineering experience within chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, mineral processing, or other heavy industrial environments.
Demonstrated project management experience, including capital project delivery from feasibility through commissioning.
Strong understanding of process engineering principles and process safety management.
Experience leading risk assessments including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA and similar methodologies.
Proven ability to manage contractors, consultants, and cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to influence, mentor and lead technical teams.
Desirable
Experience within chlor-alkali, chemical manufacturing, or dangerous goods operations.
Exposure to Major Hazard Facility (MHF) regulations, Safety Case development, or high-hazard chemical manufacturing environments.
RPEQ accreditation or eligibility to obtain.
