Seeking a qualified Childcare Educator, who is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports children's learning, development, and well being.
Typical duties include:
1. Supervising and ensuring children's safety
- Actively supervise children at all times.
- Maintain a safe indoor and outdoor environment.
- Follow health and safety procedures.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, or injuries.
- Ensure children are signed in and out correctly.
2. Supporting children's learning and development
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities.
- Encourage children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development.
- Support children's curiosity through play-based learning.
- Observe children's progress and document their learning.
3. Providing personal care
- Changing nappies.
- Assisting with toilet training.
- Helping children wash hands and practise hygiene.
- Feeding infants or supervising meals.
- Assisting children with dressing and self-care.
4. Building positive relationships
- Develop trusting relationships with children.
- Encourage positive behaviour using respectful guidance.
- Support children's confidence and independence.
- Communicate regularly with parents and carers about their child's day and development.
5. Planning activities
- Prepare creative experiences such as:
- Arts and crafts
- Music and movement
- Storytelling
- Science activities
- Outdoor play
- Sensory play
- Group games
- Adapt activities to meet individual children's needs and interests.
6. Maintaining records
- Complete daily observations and learning documentation.
- Record incidents and accidents.
- Keep attendance records.
- Maintain confidentiality of children's information.
7. Maintaining the environment
- Set up learning spaces.
- Clean and sanitise toys and equipment.
- Ensure resources are safe and well maintained.
- Assist with meal preparation and cleaning where required.
8. Working as part of a team
- Collaborate with other educators.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Follow centre policies and procedures.
- Contribute to programming and curriculum planning.
9. Supporting inclusion
- Respect cultural diversity.
- Support children with additional needs.
- Promote inclusive practices.
- Encourage equal participation for all children.
10. Following legal and professional requirements
- Follow the National Quality Framework.
- Work within the Early Years Learning Framework.
- Comply with child safety standards.
- Report concerns about child abuse or neglect where required.
- Maintain current first aid, CPR, asthma, and anaphylaxis training
Pay: $25.54 – $42.63 per hour
