Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to design, develop and maintain electrical systems and infrastructure across a range of projects. This role is suited to a technically strong professional with experience in power systems, equipment design and electrical compliance. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient and reliable electrical operations across industrial, commercial or infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems, including power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure
- Determine optimal configurations for circuits, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and regulatory standards to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Develop and test electrical components, equipment and systems such as motors, control panels and instrumentation
- Plan and coordinate installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
- Supervise electrical operations across sites, ensuring performance, safety and operational efficiency
- Analyse system performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and reduce downtime
- Manage project resources, including materials, labour and timelines, to ensure successful delivery
- Establish installation schedules for electrical systems, including cables, switchboards and associated equipment
- Design and implement control, automation and signalling systems for industrial or infrastructure applications
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with Australian standards, safety regulations and quality frameworks
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and stakeholders to deliver engineering solutions
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering or similar role
- Strong knowledge of power systems, electrical design and engineering principles
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, MATLAB or similar tools
- Experience with electrical standards, codes and compliance requirements (e.g. AS/NZS standards)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications accurately
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status or eligibility (e.g. Engineers Australia membership)
- Experience in renewable energy systems, automation or control systems
- Project management certification or experience managing engineering projects
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLC programming or industrial automation
- Experience working in construction, utilities, manufacturing or infrastructure sectors
