Work in a specialised, hands-on role supporting animal management operations and develop your skills alongside an experienced industry professional.
The City of Rockingham is seeking a motivated and capable individual to join our Animal Management Facility on a temporary basis. This position is based exclusively at the facility and works directly alongside the Animal Management Facility Operations Officer, supporting the delivery of high standards in animal care, compliance, and facility operations.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience while working under the guidance of a highly experienced and well-qualified Animal Management Facility Operations Officer, who leads and manages the facility.
What You’ll Do in the Role
- Assist with the intake, care, management, and release of animals
- Apply safe, effective, and compliant animal handling practices
- Support behavioural assessments and animal welfare outcomes
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
- Engage professionally with members of the public, including managing enquiries and collections
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and operational standards of the facility
You Will Have
- Demonstrated animal handling skills and relevant practical experience
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage challenging or sensitive situations professionally
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively within a small, team-based environment
Experience in animal control, compliance, or a similar field is highly regarded. A relevant qualification in animal care or a related field is desirable.
We are offering a gross salary of $86,797 per annum pro-rated. Benefits of working with us include:
- 12% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5% - that’s a total of 22%
