Senior Cook / Chef
Kandos Hotel is a busy country pub looking for an experienced Senior Cook or Chef to join our kitchen team. This role requires genuine hands-on experience across pan, grill and cold larder sections.
About you:
- Minimum five years’ hands-on experience in a busy commercial kitchen
- Strong experience working pan and grill sections
- Experience with cold larder preparation
- Certificate III and Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
- Currently based in Australia and available to attend an in-person paid trial shift
- Applicants seeking sponsorship must hold a relevant Cook or Chef Skills Assessment
- Flexible availability across days, nights and weekends
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable, motivated and passionate about producing quality food
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook and serve meals according to menu guidelines, recipes and Head Chef requirements
- Maintain consistent food quality, presentation and portion control
- Monitor stock levels and minimise food wastage
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to junior kitchen staff
- Direct kitchen attendants and apprentices while on shift
- Maintain clean and hygienic kitchen and food-storage areas in accordance with food-safety requirements
- Assist with receiving deliveries, checking quality and ensuring correct storage
- Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements
- Assist with menu planning
- Follow all food-handling and food-safety policies and report any incidents to the Head Chef
