The Opportunity
Forest Grove Retirement Living is a well-established community, nestled amongst 34 hectares of greenery and is home to 700+ residents. Forest Grove has a range of sought-after amenities including walking paths, duck pond, tennis court, swimming pools, bowling green and much more. Joining our team as a Maintenance Officer, you will play an important role within the community ensuring shared spaces are safe, functional and well presented. You’ll manage a range of reactive and preventative maintenance tasks, from repairs to general handyperson work, while engaging positively with residents. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with domestic maintenance experience, who is friendly, proactive, and passionate about helping others.
This is a permanent part-time position working Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8-4pm. Opportunities to work extra adhoc shifts as needed, or at neighbouring communities.
Your Impact
- Maintain the cleaning schedules and upkeep of our three swimming pools (e.g daily pool cleans and chemical checks etc)
- Ensure common areas are clean and presentable by completing regular cleaning (water blasting etc.)
- Maintain our fleet of village buggies to ensure they are clean, serviced and operational
- Carry out general preventative maintenance tasks around the community as per schedules
- Be comfortable with driving our village bus on an ad-hoc basis (desirable, not essential!)
- Recording maintenance activities, notes and job updates
- Being a friendly and approachable presence for residents while working closely with a supportive team
- Please note - this is not a gardening role (we have that covered!)
What you'll bring
- Experience in a general domestic maintenance or trade based role, including hands on handyperson tasks
- Understanding of upkeeping and cleaning pools (highly desired)
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain maintenance works in a resident friendly way
- A positive, approachable attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work
- A valid driver’s licence and two COVID vaccinations (required)
What we offer
- $33.04/hr (from July onwards) + superannuation + relevant award entitlements including penalty rates, overtime and allowances
- Employee Referral Program and Employee Assistance Program
- Discounts to Health Insurance and Retail & Leisure partner providers
- Annual flu vaccinations and skin checks
- The opportunity to build meaningful, lasting relationships with residents and contribute to our retirement community
