Reporting to the Director, the Retail Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of our Floristry
stores and for coordinating retail operations across our associated Brisbane locations. You will lead a team
of florists and retail assistants, drive sales performance, manage stock and supplier relationships, and
ensure consistently high standards of customer service and visual merchandising across all sites.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys both the commercial side of retail
management and the creative, fast-moving environment of a flower and gift business.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and oversee the daily retail operations of Rosita Flowers stores and provide
operational oversight to associated Brisbane retail sites.
- Set and monitor sales, margin and stock-turn targets; analyse performance and implement
strategies to meet budgets.
- Manage inventory and ordering of fresh stock (cut flowers, foliage, plants) and giftware, working
with growers, wholesalers and other suppliers to maintain quality and minimise wastage.
- Recruit, train, roster, supervise and develop retail staff and florists across sites; conduct
performance reviews and manage day-to-day HR matters.
- Set merchandising and store-presentation standards, including seasonal displays, peak-period
campaigns (Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas) and event floristry windows.
- Maintain high standards of customer service; resolve escalated customer enquiries and complaints.
- Oversee point-of-sale, cash handling, banking, reconciliations and end-of-day reporting.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety, food/plant handling, consumer law and other
applicable regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with the Director on commercial performance, growth opportunities and strategic initiatives
across the group's retail sites.
Skills and experience required
Essential:
- A relevant qualification at AQF Diploma level or higher, or at least 3 years of relevant retail
management experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing a retail store or multi-site retail operation, including
responsibility for sales, stock, rostering and staff supervision.
- Strong commercial acumen — proven ability to read and act on sales reports, manage budgets,
control wastage and improve margin.
- Excellent leadership, communication and customer-service skills.
- Confident with retail point-of-sale systems, inventory software and standard office applications.
- Availability to work a retail roster including weekends and extended hours during peak floral
trading periods.
Highly regarded:
- Prior experience in floristry, fresh-product retail, or gift/homewares retail.
- Experience managing perishable stock and supplier relationships in a fresh-product environment.
- Visual merchandising experience.
- Multi-site or multi-brand retail experience.
