We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant (Registered Nurse) to provide professional clinical consulting services on an ad hoc, as-required basis.
The Opportunity
This consulting opportunity is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse who enjoys working independently and providing expert clinical advice and support when required.
As a Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will provide specialist clinical expertise to support participants with complex health needs. Engagements will be arranged on an as-needed basis and may include clinical reviews, development of care plans, staff training, and liaison with healthcare professionals.
There is no minimum number of hours guaranteed, with work offered based on organisational and participant needs.
About You
You are an experienced clinician with excellent clinical judgement and a passion for improving outcomes for people living with disability. You are confident working autonomously while collaborating with participants, families, support workers, allied health professionals, hospitals, and other healthcare providers.
Scope of Consulting Services
The successful consultant may be engaged to:
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments.
- Develop, review, and update participant clinical care plans.
- Provide clinical recommendations for participants with complex health needs.
- Support worker training and development
- Provide expertise in:
- Wound management
- Continence assessment and management
- Catheter care
- Complex bowel care
- Enteral (PEG) feeding
- Stoma care
- Medication management
- Subcutaneous injections
- High-intensity supports
- Liaise with hospitals, GPs, specialists, allied health professionals, and other healthcare providers.
- Provide clinical guidance, mentoring, and education to disability support workers and management.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
- Demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex clinical needs.
- Advanced clinical assessment and care planning skills.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Wound management
- Continence management
- Catheter care
- Complex bowel care
- Enteral feeding
- Stoma care
- Medication management
- Behaviour support (within a multidisciplinary framework)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide professional clinical advice.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current AHPRA Registration.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Professional Indemnity Insurance (or willingness to obtain if required).
