This position requires:
- Exceptional communication skills including the ability to write clearly, succinctly and with attention to detail and be able to influence, negotiate and collaborate with a range of key stakeholders on complex legal matters.
- Detailed knowledge of environmental law, planning law, criminal law, evidence, statutory interpretation, litigation procedure and the legislation administered by the Department.
- An ability to manage highly complex individual litigation files, exercise initiative, and respond quickly and effectively to non-routine, urgent matters.
- Demonstrated management skills through, for example: mentoring other lawyers, improving practices and procedures within a team and developing effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
