An established and growing financial services firm is looking for an experienced Intermediate Accountant to join its tax and business advisory team.
This is an opportunity to work closely with a diverse portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, family groups and privately owned businesses, while continuing to build your technical capability across tax, accounting and advisory services.
You’ll be joining a collaborative professional services environment where you’ll have exposure to a broad range of work, direct access to experienced accountants and advisors, and the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as your skills develop.
The role
You’ll be responsible for managing a range of compliance and accounting work while building strong relationships with clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing individual, company, trust and partnership tax returns and financial accounts
- Preparing Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements
- Working across clients with varying levels of complexity
- Responding to client queries and providing practical support on accounting and software matters
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records
- Assisting with tax planning, accounting and advisory work as required
- Working closely with senior accountants and advisors on client matters
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and deliver a high standard of client service
About you
We’re looking for someone who is technically capable, commercially minded and keen to continue developing their career in professional accounting.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
- Experience in an Australian accounting or professional services environment
- Experience preparing financial accounts, tax returns and BAS across a range of client structures
- Experience working with individuals, trusts, companies, partnerships and family groups
- CA or CPA qualification, or currently working towards qualification
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a team
- Experience with Xero and practice management/accounting software
