Urban Consultants is a boutique town planning consultancy based in Oran Park, providing high‑quality, tailored planning advice and development assessment services across New South Wales. Established in 2018, our team brings extensive experience across residential, commercial and industrial developments, with a strong focus on delivering practical, high‑quality outcomes for our clients.
We are looking for a Senior Town Planner with a strong development assessment background to join our growing team in a flexible role that supports genuine work‑life balance.
About the Role
As a Senior Town Planner, you will play a key role in managing and assisting with a diverse range of developments. You will work closely with clients, consent authorities and project teams, contributing your technical expertise and professional judgement to achieve high‑quality planning outcomes.
This role offers flexibility in hours and working arrangements and may be suited to experienced planners seeking either part‑time or full‑time employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare high‑quality planning reports, including Statements of Environmental Effects, Clause 4.6 variations, feasibility assessments
- Provide expert planning advice to clients on development potential and approval pathways
- Liaise with councils, stakeholders and certifiers to progress applications efficiently
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement within the business
- Prepare, lodge and manage Development Applications across a range of residential, commercial and industrial projects
About You
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Urban & Regional Planning
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Town Planner in Australia (preferrably NSW)
- Strong development assessment background (local government and/or private sector)
- Sound knowledge of NSW planning legislation and controls
- Ability to manage multiple projects with autonomy and professionalism
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Client‑focused, proactive and solutions‑driven approach
- Planning Institute membership or eligibility for membership
