This is a rare opportunity for a commercially minded civil construction leader to take ownership of a growing business unit, drive operational performance and play a key role in shaping the future direction of a nationally active organisation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading project delivery, commercial outcomes, business development initiatives and team growth across a diverse portfolio of civil and infrastructure projects.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to senior leadership, this position offers a balance of strategic influence and hands-on operational leadership.
You will be responsible for driving project performance, developing client relationships, securing future work and building a high-performing team capable of delivering complex civil projects across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational performance of a growing civil construction business
- Oversee project delivery across multiple civil and infrastructure projects
- Drive commercial outcomes, profitability and operational efficiency
- Manage budgets, forecasting, financial reporting and P&L performance
- Lead tendering, estimating and work-winning activities
- Develop and execute growth strategies to expand market presence
- Build, mentor and develop high-performing operational teams
- Strengthen relationships with clients, contractors and key stakeholders
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Implement systems, processes and continuous improvement initiatives to support future growth
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong combination of operational leadership, commercial acumen and civil construction expertise.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience in a General Manager, Operations Manager, Regional Manager or similar senior leadership position
- Strong background within civil construction, infrastructure or earthworks environments
- Demonstrated experience managing business performance and P&L accountability
- Proven ability to lead large-scale project delivery teams
- Experience securing work through tenders, client relationships and business development activities
- Strong commercial and contractual understanding
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership capabilities
- Ability to balance strategic planning with operational execution

- Civil Engineering qualification
- Experience operating within growth-focused businesses
- Exposure to infrastructure, mining, resources or development projects
- Experience leading geographically dispersed project teams
