We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering & Business Development Manager to lead and grow our Switchboard Manufacturing within Mechanical Services Space.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, nurturing customer relationships, managing engineering outcomes within the mechanical space, and building the capability of the department to support future growth.
This role requires someone who is not only technically capable but has the ambition and drive to establish themselves as a leader within the switchboard manufacturing mechanical services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities through industry relationships, networking, and lead generation.
- Follow up on incoming leads and build strong, long-term relationships with customers, consultants, builders, and industry partners.
- Understand customer requirements and provide technical solutions that deliver value.
- Lead the design and engineering process for switchboard manufacturing within mechanical services projects.
- Review specifications, develop concepts, provide design input, and support the preparation of accurate quotations.
- Manage projects from initial opportunity through design, approval, manufacture, and delivery.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering and technical team with growth of the department.
- Establish processes and systems to support department growth and improve efficiency.
- Work closely with production and senior leadership to achieve business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement across design, engineering, and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain strong customer communication and ensure expectations are consistently exceeded.
About You
You are a technically strong and commercially minded professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and creating opportunities.
You will have:
- Proven experience in switchboard manufacturing, electrical engineering, control systems, Starters and PLC’s.
- Strong design experience with the ability to understand engineering requirements and develop practical solutions.
- Experience interpreting drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- A demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer and industry relationships.
- The confidence and drive to follow leads, generate opportunities, and grow a customer base within this space.
- Leadership qualities with the ambition to build and develop a team from the ground up.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work autonomously and take ownership of outcomes.
