About this position
The City's Development Services Team is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Planners to join our collaborative and supportive team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing and determining a range of planning proposals, including development applications, subdivision applications, scheme amendments, Structure Plans and Local Development Plans. You will also work collaboratively with key stakeholders throughout the planning process including internal teams, customers, external agencies and community members.
There are two opportunities available: one permanent position and one contract position for a period of two years.
The salary range will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
What we are looking for
To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate:

Sound knowledge (Level 5) and/or demonstrated comprehensive knowledge (Level 6) of land use planning, development control and relevant legislation

Good understanding of the importance of design in the planning process (Level 6)

Well-developed organisational and customer service skills
-
The ability to establish and maintain position working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
-
Effective report writing skills (Level 6)
Demonstrated experience in a similar planning role will be highly regarded.
Essential requirements

Current driver's licence

Current National Police Clearance (no older than three months). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline.
