About the Role:
Pepe’s Ducks is seeking a dedicated Hatchery Transport Operator to join our team in Mulgrave. This is a vital role within our farming operations, responsible for the safe and timely transport of eggs and day-old ducklings between our hatchery and company farms. As animal welfare is at the heart of our business, this position requires a reliable, compassionate, and detail-oriented individual who understands the importance of handling eggs and live animals with the highest level of care.
The role may also include supporting the upkeep of transport vehicles, as cleaning or other associated tasks.
This role operates on a rotating 7-day roster with advance scheduling provided. Shifts may include early starts any time from 5:00am to 9.00am. The position is considered part-time and offers 4 days per week. Days off will vary, based on roster, though the role does require a regular shift every second Saturday.
While many deliveries are local, the role also requires some long-distance drives to our farm in Harden.
It may be requested that a successful candidate works additional days/hours to cover other driver absence.
This requires a HR manual licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport day-old ducklings and eggs between the hatchery and farms, ensuring all welfare standards are met
- Assist in the basic upkeep of transport vehicle cleanliness.
- Maintain clear communication with supervisors, managers, and farm personnel
- Assist the business in ensuring optimal Biosecurity is practiced by yourself and others
- Follow all WHS policies and procedures within Pepe’s Ducks’ safety system
- Participate in training programs and contribute to the Quality Assurance system
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Hatchery Manager

About You
- Current HR licence with a strong and safe driving record - manual
- Experience transporting live animals (highly desirable)
- A genuine commitment to animal welfare and responsible handling
- Flexibility to work across a 7-day rotating roster, including early starts
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time and tasks effectively
