We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in reinforcement detailing, bar scheduling and interpreting engineering drawings for fabrication and construction projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Produce, revise and check detailed reinforcement drawings, layouts, plans, sections and construction details for residential, commercial, industrial and civil infrastructure projects in accordance with engineering design requirements and project documentation.
· Interpret and review structural, civil and architectural drawings, engineering specifications, design documentation and schedules to determine reinforcement requirements, detailing arrangements, dimensions, quantities and construction requirements.
· Convert engineering designs and structural information into accurate reinforcement shop drawings and fabrication drawings suitable for prefabrication, construction and on-site installation.
· Prepare reinforcement detailing using AutoCAD or Bluebeam, including bar marks, reinforcement sizes, spacing, laps, bends, dimensions, concrete cover and other required construction information.
· Prepare, check and validate reinforcement schedules, bar lists and cutting and bending schedules using the ARMA system, ensuring accuracy, consistency with approved engineering documentation and compliance with relevant project specifications and industry standards.
· Review engineering drawing revisions and incorporate design changes into reinforcement drawings, schedules and fabrication documentation, maintaining consistency between drawings, schedules and production requirements.
· Coordinate reinforcement detailing and engineering information with production, fabrication and manufacturing requirements to ensure reinforcement documentation is practical, accurate and suitable for efficient prefabrication, delivery and installation.
· Collaborate with clients, structural and civil engineers, project teams, production personnel and site representatives to clarify design requirements, resolve technical queries, identify discrepancies and coordinate project deliverables.
· Review reinforcement detailing and construction requirements to identify constructability issues, reinforcement clashes, coordination conflicts, detailing constraints and material optimisation opportunities, and implement appropriate drafting or detailing adjustments where required.
· Maintain accurate drawing revisions, reinforcement schedules, bar lists, mark-ups and project documentation to support document control, design traceability, quality assurance and fabrication accuracy.
· Support the company's Quality Management System (QMS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) objectives by ensuring drafting, detailing and scheduling activities comply with applicable Australian Standards, project specifications, approved engineering requirements, quality procedures and workplace safety requirements.
Skills and ExperienceEssential
· Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in civil engineering drafting, reinforcement detailing, rebar scheduling or a closely related role.
· Ability to interpret structural and engineering drawings and specifications.
· Experience preparing reinforcement schedules and shop drawings.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency with relevant drafting and scheduling software.
Desirable
· Experience using the ARMA reinforcement scheduling system.
· Knowledge of Australian Standards relating to reinforcing steel and construction.
· Experience working within steel fabrication, reinforcement manufacturing or construction environments.
