Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced Building Team Leader to support the delivery of maintenance, minor works, and building services across one of South East Queensland's largest healthcare precincts. Reporting directly to the Senior Facilities Manager, you will work collaboratively with both client and BGIS teams to coordinate day-to-day service delivery, support a multi-trade team, and ensure maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contract requirements.
This role plays an important part in creating consistency within the team while supporting high service standards across a busy and complex environment. The ideal candidate will be approachable, organised, and people-focused, with a genuine passion for supporting teams, building positive stakeholder relationships, and delivering quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support a multi-trade maintenance team delivering planned and reactive works.
- Review internal quotations and assist with the delivery of maintenance and installation activities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Support service delivery outcomes to meet contractual KPIs and operational requirements.
- Prepare reports, meeting documentation, and service updates as required.
- Mentor apprentices and support team members in developing their skills and technical knowledge.
- Conduct toolbox talks, approve timesheets, and assist with day-to-day team coordination.
- Use CMMS/IWMS systems to manage maintenance activities, reporting, and asset information.
- Assist with troubleshooting technical issues and coordinating appropriate solutions.
- Support emergency response activities and provide hands-on assistance when required.
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Trade qualification in Carpentry or Plumbing .
- QBCC Licence (for Plumbing applicants).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory, coordination, or team support role within building services, facilities management, maintenance, or related industries (all levels encouraged to apply).
- Experience coordinating service delivery, quoting activities, and maintenance programs.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using CMMS/IWMS platforms for maintenance management and reporting.
- Current Driver's Licence, including the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
Desirable:
- Working at Heights certification.
- Confined Space certification.
- High Risk Work Licence.
- Experience within healthcare, education, government, or other large complex facilities.
- Experience mentoring apprentices and supporting trade development programs.
- Knowledge of contract compliance and maintenance performance requirements.
Workplace Flexibility
To support operational requirements and stakeholder engagement, this position will be based on-site in Southport within a large healthcare environment. This is a hands-on role that combines team coordination, stakeholder engagement, and practical maintenance support.
