About the Position
Eco Sparks is seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician (General) to join our team at our Berrimah operations.
The successful applicant will be responsible for installing, testing, connecting, commissioning, maintaining and modifying electrical equipment, wiring and control systems across Residential & Commercial projects.
This is a full-time position suited to an electrician who can work independently, interpret electrical plans and specifications, undertake electrical installation and maintenance work, and accurately diagnose and rectify electrical faults.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Examining blueprints, wiring diagrams and specifications to determine sequences and methods of operation.
- Measuring and laying out installation reference points.
- Selecting, cutting and connecting electrical wire and cable to terminals and connectors.
- Installing, testing, connecting, commissioning, maintaining and modifying electrical equipment, wiring and control systems.
- Using electrical and electronic test instruments to trace, diagnose and identify electrical faults.
- Repairing and replacing faulty wiring, electrical components and defective parts.
- Positioning and installing electrical switchboards and associated equipment.
- Connecting electrical systems to power supplies.
- Testing continuity of electrical circuits and carrying out relevant electrical testing.
- Installing, testing and adjusting electrical and mechanical components of equipment where required.
- Installing, testing and commissioning solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems where applicable to the business's operations.
- Performing preventative maintenance and corrective electrical work.
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications and relevant documentation.
- Ensuring all electrical work is completed safely, accurately and in accordance with applicable Australian electrical standards, legislation and workplace procedures.
- Identifying electrical faults and undertaking appropriate repairs or replacement of defective components.
- Maintaining accurate records of electrical work, testing, maintenance and repairs where required.
- Working collaboratively with other trades, contractors and team members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
Essential Requirements
To be successful in this role, applicants will be expected to have:
- A relevant Australian trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, or an equivalent overseas qualification.
- Appropriate Australian electrical registration/licensing, or the ability to obtain the required license/registration applicable to the position and jurisdiction.
- Demonstrated experience working as an electrician in a relevant electrical trade environment.
- The ability to read and interpret electrical plans, wiring diagrams, specifications and technical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to install, test, connect, commission, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
- Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- A sound understanding of electrical safety requirements and safe work practices.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a strong commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
- A current driver's license, where required for the position.
Desirable Skills and Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience in [INSERT INDUSTRY / SPECIALITY].
- Experience with commercial, industrial or residential electrical installations, as applicable to the business.
- Experience with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, where relevant.
- Experience with electrical switchboards, control systems and associated electrical equipment.
- Experience diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults across a range of equipment and systems.
