This is a unique opportunity to join a highly specialised and supportive mental health pharmacy team as we prepare for the transition to the new Integrated Mental Health Complex (IMHC), one of Australia's largest and most contemporary mental health facilities.
We are seeking a motivated and consumer-focused pharmacist who is passionate about mental health and committed to developing as a Mental Health Specialist Pharmacist. The successful applicant will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, develop advanced clinical skills in mental health pharmacy, contribute to medication safety and quality initiatives, and help shape the future of mental health pharmacy services across WSLHD. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop as a Mental Health Specialist Pharmacist and be part of building the future of mental health pharmacy services in Western Sydney.

What you'll be doing
As a Mental Health Pharmacist Grade 2, you will provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to patients admitted to mental health units across Western Sydney Local Health District. Working as a key member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will help ensure the safe, effective and quality use of medicines while supporting positive patient outcomes.
Deliver clinical pharmacy services including medication reconciliation, medication review, patient counselling and discharge planning
Collaborate with medical, nursing and allied health teams to optimise medication management and support recovery-focused care
Monitor medication therapy, contribute to treatment plans and provide expert medicines information to patients, carers and clinicians
Support quality improvement initiatives, medication safety programs, antimicrobial stewardship activities and incident management processes
Contribute to education, training and mentorship of pharmacy staff, interns, students and other healthcare professionals

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Pharmacy qualifications conferred by Tertiary Education Institutions (e.g. Bachelor of Pharmacy) AND must satisfy e 2 classification as per Health Employees Pharmacists (State) Award. Pharmacy qualifications conferred by Tertiary Education Institutions (e.g. Bachelor of Pharmacy) AND must satisfy e 2 classification as per Health Employees Pharmacists (State) Award.
Registration: Full and unrestricted Pharmacist Registration with AHPRA
Selection Criteria:
Full AHPRA registration without restrictions. Grade 2 Pharmacists must meet the criteria set out in the Health Employees' Pharmacist (State) Award and are expected to continually demonstrate achievement of at least three of the five listed competencies within the Award.
Demonstrated experience as a pharmacist delivering safe and effective pharmacological care to patients living with mental health conditions.
Demonstrated advanced clinical drug knowledge and superior understanding of general medicine, with proven competence in applying this expertise to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with patients and other stakeholders to improve patient care and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with limited supervision to meet team objectives.
Demonstrated skills and experience in managing a complex workload, problem solving, and implementing solutions.
Proven commitment to professional development, continuing education and pharmacy research, including membership of a professional pharmacy association, such as the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) or the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA).
Current motor vehicle driver’s licence and demonstrated ability and willingness to travel and work across WSLHD campuses, including participation in a regular on-call roster with after-hours and weekend coverage.
