Role Description/Criteria

The position
Loreto Toorak is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Officer to join our team, working closely with teachers to support students with diverse individual learning needs. This role will primarily focus on assisting students in our Junior School, Rathfarnham, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This role is offered as a full time or part time (0.6 FTE) fixed term position until end of Term 4 2026 and will ideally commence Term 3, 2026.
Responsibilities of the role will include:

Work in partnership with classroom teachers, Learning Diversity teachers and the Learning Support Leader to implement adjustments to learning materials and the environment, as outlined in student Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

LSOs may work with the broader range of students in the class or cohort, a smaller, specifically identified group requiring targeted instruction and/or an individual student when implementing a particular aspect/s of their IEP

Provide tailored in-class and yard support across academic, behavioural, social and physical needs throughout the full school day

Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment using varied strategies aligned with contemporary educational practices and individual student needs

Maintain clear communication, accurate documentation and confidentiality, while providing pastoral care and ongoing feedback on student progress
About You
To be successful in this position, it is essential that you have:

Certificate II or III in Education Support (or equivalent)

Previous experience working as an Integration Aide/Classroom Assistant/Learning Support Officer

Experience supporting junior school students with individual learning needs

Strong communication skills with the ability to build, establish and maintain relationships

A collaborative approach with colleagues

Excellent time management and organisational skills

Demonstrated desire to apply a growth mindset to professional development

A commitment to actively participate in the co-curricular and pastoral activities of the School

A current Working with Children Check (employee)
