Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is seeking a highly capable and self-motivated IT Manager to take ownership of all information technology operations across our luxury five-star hotel.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced hospitality IT professional who thrives in a hands-on environment. As the property's sole IT specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining, supporting and improving all hotel technology systems while providing exceptional service to internal stakeholders.
Working closely with the General Manager, Executive Committee and Department Heads, you will ensure our technology infrastructure operates efficiently, securely and reliably, enabling an exceptional experience for both our guests and colleagues.
About the Role
As our IT Manager, you will oversee every aspect of the hotel's IT function, including:
- Managing all hotel IT operations and technology infrastructure
- Providing first and second level technical support to all departments
- Maintaining servers, networks, Wi-Fi, desktops, laptops, printers and mobile devices
- Supporting hotel operational systems including PMS, POS, key card systems, CCTV, telephony and other hospitality applications
- Managing cybersecurity, system access, backups and data integrity
- Coordinating hardware installations, upgrades and preventative maintenance
- Liaising with corporate IT teams and external technology vendors
- Troubleshooting technical issues promptly to minimise business disruption
- Maintaining IT documentation, software licensing and asset registers
- Identifying opportunities to improve technology performance, efficiency and user experience
- Ensuring compliance with Shangri-La IT standards and security policies
This is a highly autonomous role requiring someone who enjoys taking ownership and can confidently manage competing priorities while delivering exceptional internal customer service.
About You
You are a proactive technology professional who enjoys solving problems and building strong relationships across the business.
You will ideally possess:
- Previous experience in an IT Manager, Systems Administrator or Senior IT Support role
- Experience supporting technology within a hotel or hospitality environment (highly regarded)
- Diploma or tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, networking, hardware and business systems
- Experience supporting hotel technology platforms including PMS and POS systems (preferred)
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work independently while managing the hotel's complete IT function
- A flexible approach and willingness to provide support outside standard business hours when operationally required
