The Opportunity:
An outstanding opportunity has become available for a Transport Manager to lead a critical part of our transport operation. Reporting to the State Manager, you will oversee a diverse and complex network including interstate linehaul (road and rail) and local distribution.
This position has arisen through internal promotion, reflecting our commitment to recognising and developing our people. You will be supported by an experienced State Manager and leadership team, providing strong operational guidance while giving you the autonomy to lead your team and drive performance across safety, service and operational excellence.
This role is suited to an experienced transport leader with strong industry knowledge who can confidently manage operations, people and customers while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and efficiency.
You’ll be responsible for:
Demonstrate strong leadership and commitment to the safety of all people affected by our operations
Deliver exceptional and cost-effective customer service, including managing key customer and client relationships
Liaise with internal and external senior management and stakeholders
Lead, manage and motivate operational teams to deliver optimal outcomes
Oversee various transport operations including interstate road, rail and local distribution
Drive process improvement and change management initiatives across operations
Maintain strong financial oversight, including cost control, P&L ownership, budgeting, KPI monitoring and reporting
Manage HR-related matters at first contact including employee engagement, ER/IR matters and performance management
Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR legislation, WHS/OHS requirements and heavy vehicle regulations

Proven experience in transport or logistics operations, with the leadership capability to manage teams and drive strong operational outcomes
Strong operational understanding of interstate linehaul (road and rail) and local freight distribution
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, financial analysis, costings and operational expenditure
Highly developed people leadership and engagement capabilities
Strong experience managing customer relationships and service delivery expectations
A sound working knowledge of transport compliance, Chain of Responsibility and heavy vehicle legislation
The ability to manage complex operations while maintaining high safety and performance standards
Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
