Good Heavens is renowned for its energetic atmosphere, quality cocktails, exceptional service, and unforgettable rooftop experience. This role is based primarily at Good Heavens, where you'll play a key role in leading one of Melbourne's largest and busiest rooftop venues, leading a large team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
About the Role
As Assistant Venue Manager, you will:
Support the Venue Manager with the day-to-day operations of the venue
Lead and inspire the team during service, setting the standard from the floor
Deliver exceptional guest experiences while maintaining premium service standards
Coach, develop, and mentor front-of-house team members
Assist with rostering, labour management, and daily operational planning
Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
Help drive team engagement, accountability, and performance
Drive labour performance and operational KPIs
Assist in developing future leaders within the business
Ensure compliance with liquor licensing, health and safety, and company procedures
Work closely with senior management to achieve operational goals and venue KPIs
Be a hands-on leader who thrives in a busy, high-volume environment
What We're Looking For
Minimum 5 years' experience in a hospitality leadership or management role
Previous experience in a high-volume cocktail bar, pub, or restaurant
Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills
A positive, proactive, and hands-on approach to leadership
Excellent knowledge of food, beverage, and premium customer service
Ability to remain calm and lead confidently during busy services
Understanding of labour management, venue performance, and operational KPIs
Sound knowledge of liquor licensing and workplace health and safety requirements
Current RSA Certificate
