About the role
The Assistant Project Officer role sits within the Early Childhood Outcomes (ECO) division supporting the effective delivery of early years programs, including direct delivery initiatives such as the b4-Kindy program for children in the year before school. The role provides practical project, policy and administrative support to ensure high quality, timely and well-co-ordinated program operations across remote and very remote communities. Working as part of a small, fast paced team, you will contribute to evidence informed analysis, documentation and stakeholder coordination that underpin program delivery and policy development. You will support schools, internal teams and community partners to ensure program activities are implemented in line with Department policies, guidelines and quality expectations.
Some overnight travel may be required in this role.
The responsibilities include:
- Supporting project planning, coordination and tracking to ensure program tasks, milestones and deliverables are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Undertaking basic research and analysis to inform program documentation, decision making, reporting and policy development.
- Preparing draft correspondence, briefing materials, meeting papers and routine documentation to support decision making and program operations.
- Providing administrative and coordination support, including scheduling meetings, managing team workflows, diary management, coordinating stakeholder working groups and responding to routine enquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate records, data and program information to support monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement.
- Assisting with stakeholder engagement, including school staff, internal teams and partner organisations, to support program delivery and communication.
- Contributing to a collaborative, organised and responsive team environment, supporting the delivery of early years initiatives such as the b4‑Kindy program.
This role is well‑suited to someone who is organised, proactive and able to balance competing priorities while contributing to meaningful work that supports improved early childhood outcomes across NSW.
