The opportunity
A rare opportunity has become available for an experienced Team Leader to join our highly engaged Parks team in Nelson Bay.
Your role as Team Leader will see you actively coaching and mentoring of one Trades Gardener, one Assistant Trades Gardener, and an Apprentice Greenkeeper. With extensive horticulture experience, you will provide the team with guidance around planning, organising and deploying work schedules and operational resources including, plant, labour and materials, working closely with other teams in the Nelson Bay area.
Whilst horticulture is the aim of the game, this team also has a strong focus around greenkeeping given the sporting fields regularly worked on in this area. Skillsets that demonstrate a solid understanding of this would be highly regarded to help support the team in the maintenance of our community fields.
- This is a permanent opportunity – working full-time 38 hours / week Tuesday – Friday.
- Base Salary Range: $73,236 - $86,085 pa based on 38 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $2,464 retention allowance + adverse work allowance
- You will be working from PSC Nelson Bay Depot (Nelson Bay Road, Nelson Bay)

- A Trade Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent (i.e. Greenkeeping)
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of maintenance programs and capital works projects for recreational facilities including parks, sports, foreshores, and waterways
- Ability to provide specialist advice and apply technical knowledge and expertise to the maintenance of recreation facilities programs including irrigation, trees, playgrounds, surfaces, garden beds, landscaped areas and waterfronts
- Prior leadership experience, managing a small team
