Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a Cluster Security Manager (CSM) for our Infrastructure Physical Security team in Melbourne, Australia. Reporting to the Multi-Cluster Security Manager (MCSM) for Australia and New Zealand, you will lead a team of security professionals responsible for physical security operations across AWS Data Centres in Melbourne.
The ideal candidate brings proven experience leading security teams in critical infrastructure environments such as data centres, and thrives in fast-paced, operationally complex settings. This role offers the opportunity to shape the security posture of one of the world's largest and fastest-growing cloud infrastructure footprints during a period of significant expansion.
Key job responsibilities
Manage operational physical security across Data Centres, including access control, guard force management, CCTV monitoring, and media destruction/sanitisation.
Ensure compliance with SOC1, SOC2, ISO27001, and applicable regional and international government standards.
Lead, develop, and performance-manage a team of security professionals with varying skill sets, driving accountability and professional growth.
Oversee security vendor relationships including contract management, service delivery, training, and cost control.
Develop and execute security strategies, drive process improvements, and embed a culture of security awareness.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (DC Engineering, DC Operations) and external partners to deliver security projects on time and within budget.
Conduct investigations into Code of Conduct violations, coordinate risk and threat assessments, and report on security metrics.
Develop security plans for special events, ensuring appropriate access control and evacuation procedures are in place.
Partner with business units to identify security gaps and develop tailored policies that meet internal standards and external compliance requirements.
Engage with global peers across geographic regions and travel as required.

- 5+ years of physical security experience
- 5+ years of security management experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience
- Experience managing a team of individual contributors and vendors
- Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure
- Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences, or experience in planning, scheduling and auditing maintenance activities
- Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Experience working in a data center or mission critical facility (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.), or experience in a data center or other critical environment
- Experience managing security operations across multiple concurrent sites or facilities
