Skilled Trades Assistant | Heritage Timber Window Restoration & Upgrades
Inner West Window Specialists (IWWS) is looking for an experienced Skilled Trades Assistant to join our growing team.
This role is ideal for someone with solid onsite construction experience who is looking to further develop their skills within a specialised trade. You'll work alongside experienced tradespeople restoring, repairing and upgrading heritage timber windows and doors across some of Sydney's most character-filled homes.

About the Role
As a Skilled Trades Assistant, you'll support our Lead Carpenters on restoration and upgrade projects throughout Sydney.
This is a hands-on role involving a mix of heritage restoration work, site support, material handling, deliveries, and maintaining organised and efficient worksites.
You'll have the opportunity to learn specialist skills in heritage timber window restoration, draught sealing, glazing, timber repairs and energy-efficiency upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Carpenters with heritage window and door restoration works
- Prepare windows and frames for repairs, glazing and painting
- Assist with timber repairs, draught sealing and window upgrades
- Load, unload and organise tools, materials and equipment
- Drive company manual vehicles to collect materials and complete deliveries
- Maintain clean, safe and organised worksites
- Assist with site setup and pack down
- Follow company procedures and workplace safety requirements
- Conduct yourself professionally when working in clients' homes
Essential Requirements
- Current Australian manual driver's licence
- Minimum 4 years' experience working onsite as a Trades Assistant or similar construction role
- Permanent Australian residency or unrestricted working rights
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Reliable, punctual and organised
- Ability to work effectively within a small team
Highly Regarded
- Carpentry experience
- Experience working with timber windows and doors
- Heritage restoration experience
- Experience using a wide range of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of residential construction and renovation projects
