With continued growth in business and increasing demand for tailored shelving and storage solutions, Steel Power Shelving Pty Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Interior Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will develop practical and visually effective interior and storage layouts for commercial, industrial, retail and residential environments, working closely with clients, suppliers and installation teams to deliver suitable design solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Consulting with clients and relevant stakeholders to determine project objectives, functional requirements, design preferences, budgets and site constraints.
Researching and analysing spatial, functional, efficiency, safety and aesthetic requirements for interior spaces.
Formulating design concepts with emphasis on space planning, circulation, storage efficiency, usability and the integration of shelving, workstations, cabinets and related products.
Preparing sketches, diagrams, illustrations, layouts, plans and specifications to communicate design concepts and final designs.
Selecting, specifying and recommending suitable materials, finishes, furniture, shelving systems, storage products and other interior elements.
Presenting and negotiating design solutions with clients, management, suppliers, contractors and installation staff, and revising designs where required.
Detailing and documenting approved designs for implementation, including dimensions, materials, finishes, product placement and installation requirements.
Coordinating with suppliers, contractors and installation teams and supervising implementation to ensure work is consistent with approved designs, quality requirements and project timeframes.
Maintaining project records and ensuring design work complies with relevant building, safety, workplace and company requirements.
About You:
Strong interior design and space-planning skills with the ability to translate client requirements into practical and visually effective solutions.
Ability to prepare and interpret drawings, layouts, specifications and detailed design documentation.
Good understanding of materials, finishes, furniture, shelving and storage systems, with strong attention to detail and spatial awareness.
Strong communication and consultation skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, suppliers, contractors and installation teams.
Proficiency in relevant design and drafting software and the ability to produce clear presentation and technical documentation.
Organised, reliable and able to manage multiple design tasks while meeting project deadlines and quality requirements.
Qualification and Experience:
Relevant qualification in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Spatial Design or a related discipline at AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma level or higher (or equivalent). Alternatively, at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
Relevant experience in interior design, space planning, commercial fit-out or storage planning is highly regarded. Commercial, industrial, retail or workplace interior experience is preferred.
